Funding Circle Partners with Stripe
January 23, 2019
Funding Circle announced this morning that it has joined the Stripe Partner Program, which will allow the company to provide financing to Stripe customers in the United States. Funding Circle is a small business loan funder that offers fully amortizing small business term loans. Their loans range from $25,000 to $500,000 and have terms between six months and five years.
“We’re excited to work with Stripe to connect even more business owners with the affordable capital they need to go further,” said Bernardo Martinez, U.S. Managing Director of Funding Circle. “Funding Circle and Stripe are both dedicated to helping companies scale their businesses in the digital age, ultimately creating jobs, opportunities, and driving growth in the broader economy.”
This is Funding Circle’s first integration partnership with a payments platform in the U.S. With the partnership, Funding Circle gets access to Stripe’s small business owners, but Stripe also wins by providing more services to its customers.
“We are enabling Stripe customers to finance their growth and the end result is that, as these companies grow, [Stripe] has a higher number of payments go through their system,” said Martinez.
No money will exchange hands between Funding Circle and Stripe, Martinez said. While this partnership will start with Stripe’s U.S. small business customers, Martinez said that Funding Circle is excited about the opportunity to scale with Stripe, which serves customers internationally.
Funding Circle is not the only small business lender that has partnered with Stripe. Another company called Bitbond, based in Berlin, is listed on the company’s Stripe Partner Program.
Founded 2010, Funding Circle is headquartered in London and has lent $8.6 billion to 62,000 businesses globally. Listed on the London Stock Exchange as FCH, the company employs about 1,000 people and has offices in San Francisco and Denver.
Funding Circle Expands Partnership with INTRUST Bank to Support More US Small Businesses
June 27, 2018
Yesterday, Funding Circle and INTRUST Bank announced the next phase of their strategic partnership, which helps provide capital to American small businesses. This second phase increases INTRUST’s funding commitment and initiates a targeted, co-branded marketing campaign, giving business owners across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas greater access to fast and flexible financing. To date, over 150 American small businesses have received loans backed by INTRUST through the Funding Circle platform. This new increased commitment is anticipated to bring the number of funded small businesses to more than 500.
“This collaboration is a good example of the ways traditional and innovative financial service providers can work together to help small businesses prosper,” said Chief Financial Officer of INTRUST Bank Brian Heinrichs.
“Not only has INTRUST recognized the investment opportunity available through the Funding Circle platform, but this expansion underscores that Funding Circle’s loans are often the best option on the market for American business owners seeking growth capital,” said Funding Circle’s US managing director, Bernardo Martinez. “We view our partnership with INTRUST as a blueprint for the remaining geographies within the US.”
Funding Circle has been among the top five alternative small business funders in the US over the last several years. And earlier this month, the company released a report that demonstrated the demand for alternative financing among small business owners.
Founded in 2010, Funding Circle is a small business loans platform in the US, UK, Germany and the Netherlands, that matches small businesses that want to borrow with investors who want to lend. Investors include more than 70,000 retail investors, banks, asset management companies, insurance companies, government-backed entities and funds worldwide.

Fundfi Merchant Funding Expands Credit Facility for Second Time This Year, Supporting Record Numbers of Small Businesses
September 19, 2025Revenue-based financing leader continues aggressive growth trajectory as demand for alternative lending solutions surges
New York, NY – Fundfi Merchant Funding, a leading provider of revenue-based financing solutions, announced today the expansion of its credit facility for the second time in 2025, positioning the company to serve an unprecedented number of small and medium-sized businesses across North America. This latest facility increase reflects the company’s continued growth and commitment to supporting small business owners who are increasingly seeking alternatives to traditional lending channels.
The expansion comes at a time when Fundfi Merchant Funding is helping more businesses than ever before, with loan originations reaching new heights as small business owners turn to flexible financing solutions that align with their cash flow patterns rather than requiring fixed monthly payments.
“This second facility expansion in one year demonstrates our unwavering commitment to being there for entrepreneurs when they need capital most,” said Efraim Kandinov, CEO and co-founder. “We’re seeing incredible momentum in our market, and this expansion allows us to maintain our rapid response times while supporting the diverse financing needs of North American small businesses.”
The revenue-based financing model has gained significant traction among business owners who value the flexibility of repayments tied to their revenue performance. Unlike traditional loans, this approach allows businesses to pay more during strong months and less during slower periods, providing crucial breathing room for companies navigating seasonal fluctuations or market uncertainties.
Natasha Dillon, CFO and co-founder, emphasized the strategic timing of the expansion: “We are bullish on the growth of the small business footprint in North America and anticipating tighter lending from more traditional financing avenues. Fundfi is committed to being the reliable capital partner these businesses need to thrive. This facility expansion allows us to maintain our commitment to fast approvals and quick funding, ensuring small businesses can access capital when opportunities are presented.”
The credit facility expansion enables Fundfi Merchant Funding to:
- Accelerate funding timelines for approved businesses
- Support larger financing amounts for established companies
- Expand into new industry verticals and geographic markets
- Maintain competitive rates despite rising market interest rates
As traditional lenders face increasing regulatory pressures and risk management concerns, alternative lending providers like Fundfi Merchant Funding are filling a critical gap in the market. Small businesses, which represent the backbone of the North American economy, often struggle with the lengthy approval processes, extensive documentation requirements, and rigid repayment structures of conventional business loans.
With this second facility expansion in 2025, Fundfi Merchant Funding reinforces its position as a leading alternative to traditional small business lending, continuing to provide entrepreneurs with the flexible capital solutions they need to grow and thrive.

From the CERN Large Hadron Collider to Funding Working Capital Loans to SMBs
August 20, 2025When AltFinanceDaily stumbled upon a scoop that DoorDash had begun offering merchant cash advances in late 2021, the tech and financing team behind it had not been on anyone’s radar. That company was Parafin which at the time appeared to be a startup comprised of former Robinhood engineers. But the backstory is a bit more wild because its CEO and Co-founder Sahill Poddar previously worked on getting his PhD by discovering the Higgs boson particle at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. His credentials include a Doctorate (summa cum laude) in Particle Physics at European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN), Geneva, Switzerland and before that he was a Visiting Researcher for the Max-Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Germany. But today, at Parafin, his company makes $10 billion in funding offers to small businesses EACH DAY. The company has now funded more than 30,000 businesses since inception.
Turner Novak at The Peel secured Poddar as a guest on how Parafin came to be and it’s a must watch.
CFPB’s Funding Cut Almost in Half
July 3, 2025The current Administration’s “Big Beautiful Bill” that passed Thursday includes a paragraph that modifies the CFPB’s annual funding budget. In 2010, The Consumer Financial Protection Act, which created the CFPB, stipulated that that no more than twelve percent of the annual total operating expenses of the Federal Reserve System shall be transferred to the agency. The new law has amended that down to 6.5%.
For perspective, the CFPB received $729.4M from the Fed in FY 2024 but could have drawn up to $785.4M. Had the new cap already been in place, the agency would’ve only been entitled to take up to $425M.
All eyes had been on the CFPB in the small business finance industry where massive regulations relating to how such companies collect data were supposed to have gone into effect this month. The agency ultimately suspended compliance with the rules by one year and said it intends to rewrite those rules in the interim. The agency is required by the fifteen year-old statute to implement some form of data collection on small business lending.
